HOW TO USE CICI4D’S MOGRAPH FOR MOTION GRAPHICS MASTERY
GET STARTED WITH THE RIGHT MOGRAPH SETUP
USE THE CLONER OBJECT FOR INSTANT GRID REPLICATION
Drop a Cloner into your scene, set Mode to Grid Array, and dial in Count X/Y/Z values to spawn clones in perfect rows. Adjust Size under the Object tab to control spacing without touching individual clones.
SWITCH TO OBJECT MODE FOR PRECISE PLACEMENT
Change the Cloner’s Mode to Object, then drag any spline or polygon object into the Object field. Clones snap to vertices, edges, or faces instantly—ideal for logos or custom shapes.
ACTIVATE THE EFFECTOR STACK FOR NON-DESTRUCTIVE TWEAKS
Add a Plain Effector to the Cloner’s Effector list, then enable Position, Scale, or Rotation. Adjust Falloff to sculpt transformations without keyframing every clone.
LEVERAGE THE MOGRAPH SELECTION TOOL FOR MICRO-CONTROL
Grab the MoGraph Selection tool from the left toolbar, click any clone, and hold Shift to multi-select. Use these selections to apply effectors or fields only to specific clones.
MASTER EFFECTORS FOR DYNAMIC ANIMATION
USE THE RANDOM EFFECTOR FOR ORGANIC VARIATION
Add a Random Effector, set Transform to Position, and crank up the Strength. Adjust Seed values to generate endless unique arrangements without manual tweaking.
APPLY THE STEP EFFECTOR FOR STAGGERED MOVEMENT
Drop a Step Effector into the Cloner, set Steps to 5, and animate the Offset parameter. Clones jump in perfect increments, creating a wave or cascade effect.
COMBINE PLAIN EFFECTORS WITH FIELDS FOR PRECISE CONTROL
Add a Plain Effector, then drag a Spherical Field into its Field list. Adjust the Field’s Size and Position to limit transformations to a specific area.
USE THE DEFORMER EFFECTOR FOR MORPHING SHAPES
Add a Deformer Effector, set Mode to Bend, and animate the Strength. Clones warp smoothly, perfect for liquid transitions or organic growth effects.
CREATE COMPLEX ANIMATIONS WITH MOGRAPH FIELDS
USE THE RADIAL FIELD FOR CIRCULAR MOTION
Add a Radial Field to a Plain Effector, set Falloff to Linear, and animate the Position. Clones orbit around a central point, ideal for radial menus or loading animations.
APPLY THE NOISE FIELD FOR CHAOTIC MOVEMENT
Drop a Noise Field into an Effector, set Noise Type to Turbulence, and adjust Octaves. Clones move unpredictably, great for particle-like effects or organic swarms.
COMBINE MULTIPLE FIELDS FOR LAYERED EFFECTS
Stack a Spherical Field and a Linear Field in the same Effector. Adjust their weights to blend influences, like a pull force with a directional push.
USE THE TIME FIELD TO ANIMATE EFFECTORS OVER TIME
Add a Time Field to an Effector, set Mode to Absolute, and animate the Time parameter. Clones transform progressively, useful for reveal animations or sequential builds.
ADVANCED MOGRAPH TECHNIQUES FOR PRO-LEVEL RESULTS
USE THE MOGRAPH CACHE TAG FOR SMOOTHER PLAYBACK
Select your Cloner, add a MoGraph Cache tag, and hit Bake. Playback speeds up instantly, and you can scrub the timeline without lag.
APPLY THE TRACER OBJECT TO CREATE PATHS FROM CLONES
Drop a Tracer under your Cloner, set Mode to Connect All Objects, and adjust Thickness. Clones leave trails, perfect for motion paths or dynamic strokes.
USE THE FRACTURE OBJECT FOR DESTRUCTIVE EFFECTS
Add a Fracture Object, set Mode to Explode Segments, and animate the Force parameter. Clones shatter realistically, ideal for break-apart animations.
COMBINE MOGRAPH WITH X-PARTICLES FOR HYBRID EFFECTS
Add an X-Particles emitter, then use a MoGraph Cloner as the Particle Object. Clones spawn as particles, enabling fluid simulations with MoGraph control.
OPTIMIZE RENDERING WITH MOGRAPH INSTANCING
Select your Cloner, go to the Object tab, and enable Render Instance. Reduces memory usage while keeping transformations intact, crucial for large scenes. Cici4d.
